May the Turtle be with you

13 Oct

Hello Turtle Fans – A short time ago in a galaxy not far away, I went to the launch of  Lego Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles which is out on DVD.

I went with my friend Mr Anonymous and my mum. When we got there, there was a man giving out sheets of instructions and Lego so you could help to make a Lego Yoda mosaic. They didn’t finish it because there were 250+ bits, but this is what it looked like:

They were also screening the actual DVD and we saw a bit of that. The DVD looked really funny. People who like Lego Star Wars will enjoy this.

And then Darth Vader came in with his storm troopers. I had a light saber battle with Mr Anonymous and Darth Vader kept saying Let the evil flow and I was scared of what Darth Vader was going to do!

And then we left and went to the M&Ms World, which is a huge shop in London which only sells M & Ms. Then we went home on the train.

Mr Turtle reviews BBC audio books

11 Sep

bbc-audio-books

I was sent some audio books by AudioGo to review. This site is the home of BBC Audio books – I already have a lot of their Doctor Who books. The good thing about Doctor Who audio books is that they are usually new stories that you haven’t seen on TV.

Audio books are books that you listen to. I like to read along with the real book when I am listening to the audio book, but some audio books are just good to listen to.

You can get them as CDs or download them on to your computer.

You can see the audio books here with Fluffy, who is my newest turtle. This is what I was sent:

Doctor Who: Hunters of Earth

This features the first doctor William Hartnell and is performed by two actors. Hunters of Earth is a very good audio book – it was read well, had a good plot and I really enjoyed it. It’s about the Doctor and his grand daughter keeping a secret that they are repairing the Tardis.

Doctor Who: Shadow of Death

This features the second doctor, and one of the people who reads the story is Frazer Hines who was in the original TV show as a Doctor’s companion. I didn’t find it scary, although the title is scary. It was really good.

Doctor Who: Vengeance of the Stones

We all listened to this in the car when we were on our way to Thorpe Park (which is where Fluffy came from). It lasts just over an hour and is about the Third Doctor Jon Pertwee. It’s about lots of circles of stones and some aliens who are trying to take over this planet. It was quite creepy but we enjoyed listening to it.

The Hobbit

This was the longest one out of them all – it was about 3 hours and 30 minutes. I found it quite hard to listen to because they are all talking in weird voices. This is actually an old radio recording from Radio 4 in 1968. But I still really enjoyed it once I got used to all the voices. I really like The Hobbit.

I hope you enjoyed my reviews of BBC Audio books – go and listen to an audio book, they are really fun.

My top 5 Minecraft Mods

4 Sep

One thing I have been doing over the summer is playing a LOT of Minecraft. And I was thinking of doing a post about Minecraft but I didn’t know what. So I have decided to do my top 5 Minecraft Mods.

If you don’t play Minecraft, a Mod is some extra code that adds in special things to the game. There are loads and loads of Mods so you can find one you will like, no matter what you are interested in. It helps to make your Minecraft world unique. All you have to do to find them is to search on Google for the sort of Mod you are looking for and then click on the link. Different Mods will have different ways to be installed.

Exter-mine-ate!

These are my Top 5:

  1. The Dalek Mod
This one is for Doctor Who fans. It adds in 22 new Daleks (which come out at night), 3 Cybermen, a really cute Adipose and lots of other Doctor Who monsters which look really cool. It adds in a fez, 3D glasses, the 10th doctor’s glasses, the 4th doctor’s scarf and the 7th doctor’s scarf. You can get Dalek and Cyberman armour, the TARDIS (which you can go inside with the TARDIS key) and Bessie, the 3rd doctor’s car. And of course sonic screwdrivers!
  2. Superheroes Unlimited Mod
This Mod I really like. It adds in so much that I can’t list it all – it pretty much is unlimited. The highlights are: you can wear most of the Marvel and DC characters’ suits and become them and have their powers, such as Spiderman, Iron Man, Batman and Thor. You can get weapons like Wolverine’s claws, Kryptonite swords and grenades which fly you really far.
  3. Pig Companion Mod
There are normally pigs in Minecraft, but with this Mod you can get your pig to wear a helmet and he will follow you around and attack things that try to attack you – he’s like a little defender. If you get enough pigs and helmets you could have an army of pigs.
  4. Smart Moving Mod
This Mod is a lot of fun if you like jumping around. It lets you crawl on the ground and go through smaller spaces. It adds in better animations, and when you swim under water it looks really good. When you jump off a high place with water underneath you can do a dive. You can also climb up walls with this Mod.
  5. Mo Animals Mod
I haven’t got this one yet but it sounds really good. It adds in loads of new animals but the main bit that I love is that it adds in TURTLES and TORTOISES and SEA TURTLES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So those are my top 5 favourite Mods. I hope you have enjoyed reading about them and will give them a go. Leave a comment if you want to suggest another good Mod.

CAKE!!!!!!!!!!

11 Jul

Since the last post it was my birthday and I had a six layer cake. It had strawberry icing and had my favourite chocolate bars inside – Crunchie, Aero and Double Decker. It was really nice and I made a 10 out of a packet of smarties and it was really fun to make.

Here is a picture of it:

I just wanted to say that it was really nice and I wish it could last for ever.

News of the Turtles

11 Jun

Hello it’s Mr Turtle. Sorry I haven’t done a blog post in a while butturtle-skateboard

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY IN 2 DAYS

unless you’re reading this from the future (when turtles have conquered the human race) in which case I will be older.

There has been lots of turtle news since I did my last blog post so I knew I had to share it with the world. These are two very interesting stories (of course including turtles).

1. HOW THE TURTLES GOT THEIR SHELLS

This is my personal favourite. You can read about it here. I highly recommend it. It’s really interesting because it says that a turtle shell isn’t just 1 bone, it’s about 50. And the oldest turtle fossil they have found is 260 million years old. So turtles have been around longer than people and are better than dinosaurs because they’re still around.

2. WHY FEMALE LOGGERHEAD TURTLES ALWAYS RETURN TO THEIR PLACE OF BIRTH (try saying that 50 times fast with a sweet in your mouth!)

The full story about this is here. Female turtles always go back to the island where they were born when they want to lay eggs, even if it’s really far away and they haven’t been there for years. This is because they can fight off diseases better on their home island.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post and the funny picture. I will do another post after my birthday to tell you all about it. See you when I’m 10!

Magical Mr Turtle on Minecraft

13 May

Hello – Mr Turtle here and in this post I wanted to talk about Minecraft. If you don’t know what Minecraft is, it’s a game on the PC and it’s a world made out of blocks and pixels. It’s like Lego only on the computer and it’s a lot more detailed. Here’s the link to it. If you look at the link you’ll see that it is £17.95 but then you can play forever on any computer in the world (when you log in). Anybody can play. Most people would like it from age 7 plus.

I think it is very clever how it works because you can place any block and build massive towers or windmills or a massive fortress that shoots fire balls. You can make your own circus or a fair with an up and down rollercoaster. There is a creative mode where you have any block you want, and you can destroy blocks instantly, but on another type called Survival you have to build a house and make resources for your self and try not to get killed. On Minecraft I made a railway track which you can go around on.

My top 3 things I like about Minecraft

  1. It’s very creative and imaginative because you can make anything you want with only a few clicks
  2. It’s very sociable because if somebody else is playing in the same wifi as you, then you can play with each other. Also I talk to my friends about it because a lot of them play it.
  3. It’s very fun

I am going to make my own Minecraft video to explain it more. I’ve put two Minecraft songs in this post. Hope you like them as much as I do!
